Sometimes dinner needs to be quick and light as it is 11:30 at night before one is able to eat said dinner.

1. I now present to you, the most amazing smoothie EVER.

  • Plain Greek Yogurt
  • Non-Fat Milk
  • A big serving of peanut butter (specifically PB&Co.’s Cinnamon Raisin Peanut butter)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop Jay Robb’s Vanilla Whey Protein powder

It honestly tasted like a peanut butter vanilla milkshake. That you can feel GOOD about. Legit.

(with a side of TJ’s animal crackers)

2. I have recently became in love with Steel Cut Oats. And the best way I’ve found to cook them? The old rice cooker. It’s like a crock pot.. set it and forget it! Well, with a little stirring now and then. So good!!!

And add them to an almost empty peanut butter jar and you have one jar of absolute goodness.

3. I’m out of bananas. Hence this breakfast…

Maybe I have issues but I ALWAYS have a banana with breakfast. ALWAYS. Thus, it did not start my morning off right. AND, maybe it’s in my head but this breakfast did not keep me full quite as long as usual.

I did some grocery shopping tonight and lo and behold, the HORROR, the grocery store was out of bananas. OUT of bananas.

A Day in the Life

Some of my favorite posts of other bloggers? A day in the life of said blogger. Why am I interested in the mundane every day goings on of other people? That I’m not sure. Yet here we all are reading blogs, which are basically just that. In any case, while I don’t find my life incredibly interesting, I thought I would share with you what a typical day looks like for me.


March 1, 2012

10:30 AM – Wake up. Don’t judge… To say I’m not a morning person anymore is an understatement. However, part of the reason for that is because I go to bed late at night due to my job. In any case, I wake up and immediately go for the coffee and breakfast. And until I do, don’t talk to me. Just sayin.

Today I had Kashi blueberry waffles topped with Earth Balance and light syrup with 1/2 of a banana

I’m also not even afraid to say that flavored coffee creamers are one of my indulgences. Yes, I’m quite aware they are full of scary chemicals. Are they delicious? You bet!


After breakfast I’ll usually read some blogs, catch up on necessary computer things, etc.

12 –12:30 PM or so – I head to the gym or workout at home. Yesterday I did 15 minutes on the bike, 20 minutes incline walking (which I am in love with lately), a short leg workout, and then abs/stretching. I usually will spend an hour or so at the gym – it’s my ME time.

2 – 3:30 – I return home from the gym and have some post gym refreshment, lately in the form of a glass of orange juice. I’ve been drinking some sort of juice daily for the past month or so and I can definitely feel the difference. While I don’t like to get my calories from liquids, Vitamin filled natural juices are perfect.

3:30 – I head to work and have lunch/heavy snack on the way to work. Again, don’t judge… I’m aware that driving while eating is probably not the safest thing to do. Do as I say, not as I do 🙂

A smoothie made with frozen peaches, 1/2 of a frozen banana, Greek yogurt, non-fat milk, 1/4 cup raw oats, and 1/2 scoop Jay Robb’s Vanilla Whey Protein Powder. And yes, it did taste like a peach milkshake. YUM!

4 – 10:30/11:00 – Work. Enough said.

11:30 – 1 AM – Relax. Even though I work late, I am NOT one of those people who can come straight home and go to bed. I have to relax and unwind after work and then I’ll usually head to bed around 1 AM or so.


All in all, I do not lead a very exciting life. Buuut, it’s not so bad 🙂

I’m baaaaack!!! And for GOOD good this time! I debated starting a new blog as I’m not quite proud of what the old blog has produced over the last year… but, I didn’t want to lose the.. well, history, of the blog. And hey, everyone goes through that middle “awkward” stage, right? Here’s to a new start! I’m not committing myself to blogging twice a day or three times a day or every day.. no commitments. But I DO miss blogging, a LOT, and it’s something I want to be part of my life.. therefore, I’m bringing it back. Over the next few days (and honestly, weeks most likely), I shall be updating links and information, updating the looking, and bringing you guys up to date with the goings on in my life. While the blog IS mostly food related, there will definitely be life posts, fashion posts, random posts, etc.

Since last we talked, things have changed quite drastically in my life. And one of the biggest things? That I’m SUPER pumped about? That is life-changing?! Little old me was accepted to Winthrop University (where our blog land’s beloved KERF attended) where I will pursue (FINALLY) my love of nutrition and health! And you guys get to come along for the ride! I plan on chronicling my new life in the Charlotte, NC area, as well as what I learn in the Nutrition program at Winthrop. While I won’t be moving or starting school until August, I am PUMPED!

There will definitely be more information to come but as not to overwhelm you with a wordy post, I’ll leave you with some delicious meals I’ve enjoyed over the past few days or so.

I combined oats, water, and chia seeds overnight and then mixed in a little extra water, cinnamon, chopped apples, and a pinch of salt in my rice cooker this morning. I then topped them with Barney Butter..
