So last night I decided, FINALLY, that I am going to take the plunge and go Culinary School. [Enter mild freak out here]
Backtracking.. I have been in college since I graduated high school. That is 5 1/2 years folks. I first went to a 4 year school to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood to be a teacher. Long story short, it was what I always *thought* I wanted to do. Then came the experience of student teaching and I freaked the hell out realized that while I love love children, this was not what I wanted to do with my life. In fact, I knew I would be absolutely miserable if I continued on. So rather than finish another semester and graduate with a degree I wouldn’t enjoy, I switched to Business. Um, that was even worse. Luckily (?) God intervened and my stress fracture happened. Bed rest happened –> which led to being unable to actually attend class and lots of thinking. Long story short, I dropped out and went to a 2 year school to get an Associate’s Degree in Arts, which is where I have been for the last year. I graduate this summer. The plan all along was to go to Culinary School once I at least had an Associate’s degree that I could do something with if all else failed. I almost decided to NOT go to Culinary school, despite my love of cooking, after I realized from working in a restaurant that owning/managing a restaurant was NOT what I wanted to do (why? well that’s a post for another time). But I have finally decided to follow my dream and go to Culinary School. It’s a 2 year program that will give me a degree that I can do TONS with in the direction of nutrition which is what I WANT to do. So yay! Though i’m kinda sorta really terrified!
